Being a passionate mountain biker for the last twenty years, I just recently rediscovered the everyday pleasure of riding a bike whenever I need to go somewhere, or bring something. You know, the simple cycling for transportation most of us used to do once upon a time.
What struck me was the almost total lack of enthusiasm among my fellow cyclists towards the everyday utility kind of bicycling. Puzzling. Why doesn't everybody love riding all kind of bikes everywhere? Look at the picture below, for instance. That's me riding an old, Swedish singlespeed barefoot. Lovely, eh?
For some reason I'm already a staff columnist over at Scandinavia's largest mountain bike magazine, Terrengsykkel, writing for the young, reckless and singletrack minded people (or at least those thinking they are).
In order to balance my life as a bicycle writer, I need this blog to cater for the old, boring and practical peers called everyday cyclists. Trust me: One day I'm gonna win all them youngsters over to this other side. One day they will be here with tweed pants and pannier racks. They just need to get old and boring enough.
And I have all the time in the world.
